M&G launches investment-grade bond fund maturing in 2031
What's the deal? M&GDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched the M&G (Lux) Fixed Maturity Bond Fund IG 2031, an actively managed, five-year fixed-maturity bond fund designed to offer euro-denominated income. The fund size was not disclosed.
How it works: The strategy will invest at least 60% of its portfolio in investment-grade government and corporate debt, targeting an average rating of BBB. The remaining 40% goes to high-yield bonds.
It will also use credit default swaps (CDS) selectively to improve the portfolio's return profile.
Who's running it? The fund follows a "buy and watch" approach under M&G's co-head of macro credit, Stefan Isaacs. He is joined by Matthew Russell, who has managed the M&G (Lux) Short Dated Corporate Bond Fund since 2018, alongside managers Carlo Putti and Anjulie Rusius.
Why now? The launch expands M&G's fixed-maturity bond range, which has already raised €1.9 billion across eight launches over the past three years.
The signal: Fixed-maturity bond funds have drawn steady investor demand as managers court those seeking predictable, defined-term income. M&G's continued build-out signals confidence that appetite for the format will hold.
