By the numbers: Kapital enters this round from strength. It recently reported net income of roughly $50 million for the first half of 2026, a loan portfolio up 220% year-over-year to more than $1.7 billion, and deposits up 234% to over $3.5 billion. Its non-performing loan ratio sat at 2.86%.

What's the endgame? The company positions itself as an AI-powered institution serving more than 350,000 business customers. "Kapital is solving the core financial challenges that hold businesses back at every stage of their development," said chief executive officer and co-founder René Saúl.

Why now? The financing follows a September 2025 Series C of up to $110 million that doubled Kapital's valuation to more than $1.3 billion, making it Mexico's first AI unicorn. It is one of 10 unicorns headquartered in Mexico.

What backers see: "Kapital's growth to date clearly demonstrates the strength of its business model, the competitive advantage it has built around its AI capabilities and data network, and the significant demand for its solutions," said Francesco Filia, founder and chief executive officer of Fasanara Capital.

The signal: This round ranks around the 91st percentile among late-stage fintech deals in Mexico over the trailing 48 months, a sign of concentrated investor appetite for Latin American fintechs that pair AI with a proven, profitable lending model.
