Who is Unicam? Operating since 1991, the company sells instruments, consumables, technical support, service, and training in chromatography, spectrometry, and microwave technology. Its customers are universities, research institutions, and industrial buyers across Portugal.

By the numbers: Unicam has annual revenue of about €10 million and 20 employees. AddLife expects the deal to have a marginal positive impact on earnings per share this financial year.

What's the rationale? AddLife wants to strengthen its position in advanced laboratory technology and expand its portfolio for research and industry. "This is fully aligned with our strategy of acquiring advanced laboratory instrument companies that also sell consumables and provide services," said Mattias Bengtsson, vice president of BioMedical & Research at AddLife.

What changes? Little, for now. Unicam will keep its own brand and operate with a high degree of independence, in line with AddLife's decentralised model.

What did the target say? "AddLife's decentralised model provides both freedom and opportunity, while enabling us to further strengthen our offering and create value for our customers," said Daniel Ettlin, general manager of Unicam.

The signal: AddLife, which has 2,300 employees across about 85 subsidiaries and net sales above SEK 10 billion, continues to grow by absorbing niche European life-science distributors. Bolt-on deals like Unicam let the group deepen its regional reach without disrupting the acquired teams.
