Everbridge buys Open Measures to catch threats before they happen

What's the deal? Everbridge has acquired Open Measures, an open-source intelligence (OSINT) firm, to expand its risk intelligence tools. Terms were not disclosed. Everbridge provides critical event management and public warning software; Open Measures analyses publicly available online signals to spot emerging threats.

What's the endgame? Everbridge wants to give customers earlier visibility into risks that surface online before they become incidents. Open Measures collects and analyses billions of signals across more than 45 digital sources, including mainstream and alternative social media and online communities.

Why now? The company frames online chatter as the first warning sign of operational, physical, and reputational threats — often long before traditional intelligence sources register them.

"Many of today's most significant risks first take shape online, well before they become operational incidents," said Dave Wagner, chief executive officer at Everbridge.

What changes for customers? Everbridge serves more than 6,500 enterprises and government organisations. Combining OSINT with its critical event management platform aims to connect digital risk signals to the people, locations, and assets they may affect. Open Measures' data also opens the door to AI-powered analysis and investigation.

"Joining Everbridge allows us to bring that foundation to a broader global customer base," said Hank Teran, chief executive officer of Open Measures.

The signal: The deal reflects a broader push to treat risk intelligence as core to operational resilience, folding early-warning data collection into the same platform that coordinates the response.
