Samsung Electro-Mechanics lands $760M AI chip order for 2027

What's the deal? Samsung Electro-MechanicsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has signed a contract worth about 1.07 trillion won to supply multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for artificial intelligence applications. The deal, disclosed on October 1, equals 9.5% of the company's revenue last year and runs from January 1 to December 31, 2027.

Why now? Rising AI investment is driving sharp demand for high-capacity components that improve data transmission speeds, according to IBK Investment & SecuritiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The brokerage called the disclosure a clear reflection of that market shift.

What's the endgame? MLCCs stabilise current flow and remove noise inside electronic circuits, and the company is pushing into the high-end segment. IBK estimates the buyer is a major graphics processing unit (GPU) or AI server supplier, and that the deal represents 12.3% of Samsung Electro-Mechanics' projected 2027 MLCC revenue.

By the numbers: The order is unusually large. Key customers typically buy around 500 billion won a year, IBK noted. With an earlier contract to supply 750 billion won to two firms, the company has now locked in 1.75 trillion won in 2027 MLCC revenue across three customers.

What's the outlook? IBK expects surging high-end demand to fuel supply shortages and price increases, widening profit margins. Analyst Kim Woon-ho said the operating margin should improve faster than earlier forecasts and top the previous peak of around 40% (translated from Korean).

The brokerage kept its "buy" rating and a target price of 1.75 million won.

The signal: The order underscores how the AI buildout is reaching beyond chips into the components that support them, handing suppliers of high-end parts a fresh growth driver as demand outpaces capacity.
