TEDCO backs Baltimore's Unlock with $225K across two programs
What's the deal? Unlock, a Baltimore-based relationship intelligence startup, has raised $225,000 from the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCODealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? Unlock's platform connects to a company's existing systems to surface contacts, timing, and context, turning scattered relationships into measurable intelligence. The goal is to help customers know who in their network can open a door — and which doors are worth knocking on.
What's the money for? The funding will help Unlock reach more companies. "TEDCO's $225,000 funding allows us to expand our reach to more companies, and we're proud to be building Unlock here in Maryland," said chief executive officer Jared Cozart.
Why now? Cozart argues the timing reflects a wider shift. "We're in the middle of the largest entrepreneurial wave in modern history, and the systems these companies rely on to build relationships haven't kept up," he said.
TEDCO's Concept Capital program provides early-stage funding for tech companies looking to launch and grow. Its Social Impact Funds target technology and life sciences entrepreneurs who are traditionally overlooked, pairing capital with mentorship, operational guidance, and access to TEDCO's statewide network.
The signal: The deal shows how state-backed investors are courting early startups to keep talent and momentum local. "Investing early allows companies like Unlock to build momentum here in Maryland, and that's what fuels a stronger innovation economy across the state," said TEDCO chief executive officer Troy LeMaile-Stovall.
