Why now? Co-founder and chief executive officer Lisa Van Houdt said the company hit an inflexion point after more than a decade. "We see opportunities that are bigger than we can pursue on our own," she said, adding that Questi wanted a partner to protect its founder-accessible support and back its growth.

What's the endgame? Banyan follows a buy-grow-and-hold-for-life model and plans to keep Questi's team in place while adding operating support from its education software portfolio. It aims to use its international network to help the company expand.

"The best software businesses enjoy a kind of loyalty that is hard to manufacture, and Questi has it," said Jos Gritter, Banyan's M&A lead for the Benelux, noting schools trust the platform because it was built by professionals who lived the classroom dynamic.
