JetZero lands $100M loan for all-wing Z4 jet

What's the deal? JetZero has closed a $100 million senior secured term loan to accelerate its Z4 program, an all-wing airplane aimed at the middle market. The aircraft is designed to carry roughly 250 passengers over distances up to 5,000 nautical miles.

What's the endgame? JetZero is betting on a blended-wing design that departs from conventional tube-and-wing aircraft. It claims the Z4 can cut fuel burn and emissions by 50% versus existing jets of similar capacity.

Where's the money going? The proceeds will fund technology maturation for the Z4, the build of a full-scale Demonstrator Jet1, and JetZero's production and test facilities in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Chief executive officer and co-founder Tom O'Leary tied the round to the company's push to advance the program and expand US-based manufacturing.

The signal: At $100 million, this ranks among the largest debt rounds for a US deep tech company, sitting in the 95th percentile of nearly 2,000 such deals. It reflects growing investor appetite for hardware bets that promise steep efficiency gains and lower-emission aviation.
