What's the endgame? Auron develops AI-based electronic warfare systems to counter hostile drones. Its radio-frequency systems detect and classify unmanned aerial vehicles, and can intercept their control channels.
That approach targets a drone's control channel directly, rather than jamming the entire radio-frequency spectrum or firing an expensive missile at a cheap quadcopter.
Who's backing it? Pravo Ventures is an American fund focused on the Ukrainian market, acting as an intermediary between accredited investors and Ukrainian startups. It was founded in 2024 by Hans Braunfish, Alex Ishyn, and Vlad Sutea.
The fund said the deal fits its strategy of seeking technologies that close defence gaps identified by the war in Ukraine, adding that such solutions could be relevant for the US and its allies.
The signal: The round shows how the battlefield in Ukraine is shaping defence investment, with a US energy giant's venture arm now backing counter-drone technology built on wartime experience.
