Who's the buyer? Skye is a single-family office that invests its own capital directly in operating businesses through acquisitions, co-investments, and equity stakes. Led by former operators, it focuses primarily on the Mid-Atlantic region and targets companies with strong fundamentals that lack the capital or infrastructure to grow.
The rationale: CCA framed the fit around Skye's hands-on approach. "Skye's operator mindset made them a natural fit, and we look forward to watching CoastTec thrive in this next chapter," said Dave Morrison, a director at CCA who advised on the deal alongside managing director Mike Zuidema.
The signal: The deal reflects continued family-office appetite for lower-middle-market operating businesses, particularly those tied to critical power infrastructure. With Sevel staying on, it fits a common playbook: an operator-led buyer backing an established niche specialist rather than restructuring it.
