What's the deal? MARS Energy GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Citadel Roofing & SolarDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, one of Northern California's largest new construction roofing and solar contractors. The deal, announced August 27, 2026, adds more than 1,000 employees to the MARS platform. Terms were not disclosed.
Who's who? Rocklin-based MARS is a diversified energy and infrastructure platform; this marks its 11th acquisition. Citadel, founded in 2015, serves leading homebuilders and also runs reroofing and retrofit solar businesses for homeowners.
What's the endgame? The purchase expands MARS across California and strengthens its integrated residential roofing and solar platform. Citadel's lead in Northern California's new construction market complements the MARS commercial and residential energy capabilities.
What changes for customers? Little. Citadel will keep operating under Dieter Folk, Helmut Gehle, Eric Owen, Wendi Zubillaga, Stephanie Crichton, Jeff Maxfield, and the rest of its management team, and customers will work with the same people.
Why now? "There are acquisitions, and then there are partnerships that simply feel like they were meant to be," said Manvendra Saxena, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of MARS. He said the deal "is not about changing what has made Citadel successful. It is about investing in it."
The signal: With its 11th deal, MARS is consolidating California's fragmented roofing and solar market, betting that scale across new construction and retrofit work can position it to serve homebuilders statewide while investing in technology and operations.
