Accenture buys Tokyo's COMWARE to expand mid-market AI push in Japan

What does COMWARE do? Founded in September 2000, it handles core business systems from implementation to maintenance and operations. It has extensive experience in discrete and process manufacturing, spanning make-to-order production to chemicals and food.
Why now? The acquisition strengthens Accenture EdgeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a business entity Accenture launched in June 2026 to help mid-market companies adopt AI. "As AI becomes foundational to how companies operate and compete, speed of execution has become increasingly critical," said Dai Hamaoka, Accenture's Japan country managing director.
What's the endgame? Accenture wants to deliver scalable, repeatable transformation services faster to more clients. COMWARE brings a 25-year SAP Japan partnership, its proprietary "COMet" implementation template, and Salesforce CRM capabilities.
The signal: Consulting giants are racing to embed AI into everyday operations, and mid-market firms are the next frontier. Accenture — which reported roughly $70 billion in FY25 revenue and employs about 799,000 people — is buying local expertise and client relationships to reach smaller companies at scale.
