Valsoft's TAG Software Group buys union software maker UnionTrack

What each side does: Valsoft acquires and develops vertical market software businesses. Founded in 2014 and based in Rockville, Maryland, UnionTrack builds member engagement software and supports more than 450 labor affiliates across North America.

The product: UnionTrack's flagship platform, ENGAGE, combines member engagement, dues and per capita payments, bidirectional communications, organizing, training, and grievance tracking in one cloud-based system.

The rationale: The purchase expands TAG Software Group's presence in the union software market and deepens its expertise across North American association management. UnionTrack "gives labor organizations a single system for the work that matters most to their members," said Costa Tagalakis, managing partner at TAG Software Group.

What changes: UnionTrack will operate autonomously, with current operations in place. It joins TAG Software Group, one of Valsoft's decentralized operating entities, gaining shared expertise and long-term investment.

Founder's view: "Valsoft's long-term approach means we can keep serving our members with that same commitment, now backed by additional resources to grow," said founder Ken Green.

The signal: The deal reflects Valsoft's buy-and-hold strategy of acquiring mission-critical vertical software businesses and running them as decentralized units — a model that keeps founders' teams intact while consolidating niche markets under one roof.
