Why now? Company founder and chief executive officer Albert Schmidbauer attributes the move to a shared approach of taking a holistic view of health, linking Biogena's human supplements business with Herosan's animal nutrition focus.

The signal: The deal points to growing investor interest in insect-protein pet nutrition, a niche drawing wider capital — French producer Innovafeed recently secured €51 million. Biogena's minority stake gives it exposure to the segment without a full buyout.
