The players: Founded in 2002 and based in Sacramento, California, Inszone is a national brokerage offering property, casualty, and employee benefits coverage. Harris, founded in 1925 by Charles R. Harris, has served the community across three generations, specialising in home, auto, umbrella, motorcycle, RV, and boat insurance.
Why now? Harris's leadership was planning for retirement and looking for a partner to carry the agency forward. "As I started thinking about retirement, I wanted to be sure I was leaving my clients in good hands," said Ross Harris of Harris Insurance Services.
What changes? Harris clients gain access to Inszone's expanded markets, technology, and back-office resources, while the team integrates into Inszone's systems.
What's the endgame? Inszone is expanding organically and through acquisitions, now operating in 25 states with more planned. "A family business with nearly a hundred years of history and a deep specialty in personal lines does not come along every day," said chief executive officer Chris Walters.
The signal: The deal reflects steady consolidation in US insurance brokerage, as national platforms absorb long-established local agencies whose owners face succession questions — trading independence for scale, technology, and back-office support.
