GPx anchors Silent Ventures’ $85M defense tech Fund II

Try Dealroom → — the specialist-VC-backing fund from Founders Fund partner emeritus Brian Singerman and Quiet Capital managing partner Lee Linden — came in as an anchor limited partner, alongside several other institutional backers.
Why GPx? The fund gains early-stage defence exposure through Moses rather than backing startups directly. Silent Ventures invests at pre-seed and seed, and its portfolio includes “14 defence and deep tech unicorns” across its first fund and affiliate vehicles, per Moses.
How GPx works: Launched in 2025 with a reported $500M first fund (GPx says the actual size is larger), it backs niche VCs closest to the action instead of picking startups itself. A smaller portion goes to emerging pre-seed and seed managers; the rest funds later-stage co-investments in their winners.
That gives GPx an early foothold in top companies before larger firms arrive. For smaller VCs, having GPx as an LP lets them keep participating in rounds they might otherwise be priced out of — sidestepping the special purpose vehicles they often raise to follow their hottest bets.
Silent’s playbook: That model mirrors how the firm already operates. “We’ll be the biggest check — sometimes the only check — into a pre-seed startup, and then we’ll follow on to either co-lead or lead at seed,” Moses said.
Its early bets include Saronic, Castelion, Hadrian, Armada, and Firestorm. “We’re very fortunate to have done every round of Saronic, we’ve done Armada many times over, we’ve done Impulse [Space] many times over,” Moses added.
Why now? The raise lands as hype around defence tech peaks and Silicon Valley’s mega-funds push deeper into the sector, especially at the growth stage.
The signal: As generalist giants crowd into defence, specialists who can spot winners early become a scarce asset for LPs — and GPx’s bet on Moses is a wager that access, not scale, wins the earliest rounds.
