Paragon takes growth stake in quality-management software maker Babtec
What's the deal? Munich-based investment firm Paragon PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → is backing the growth of Babtec Informationssysteme GmbH, a Wuppertal-based quality-management software provider. The two owners, Michael Flunkert and Waios Kastanis, signed the agreement on August 8, 2026, and will stay invested as co-chief executive officers.
What does Babtec do? Founded in 1994, the company offers integrated quality-management software across the DACH region. Its platform spans quality planning, risk analysis, inspection, complaints, and audit management, plus supplier collaboration.
By the numbers: Babtec serves more than 1,300 customers in quality-critical industries and employs around 230 people across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Spain.
What's the endgame? Babtec is expanding its cloud and subscription offering, including the BabtecQube platform, which lets companies and suppliers work in shared quality processes. Its new AI agent, Quorix, analyses documents and defect patterns and supports complaint handling while leaving decisions to the user.
What the backers say: "Quality is increasingly becoming a competitive factor for industrial companies, and Babtec is built exactly for that with its end-to-end platform," said Christian Bettinger, partner at Paragon Partners (translated from German). He said Paragon aims to accelerate the cloud and AI roadmap and drive national and international expansion.
What could go wrong? The deal still requires clearance from the relevant antitrust authorities before it can close.
The signal: Paragon, founded in 2004 and managing over €2.4 billion in equity across 12 portfolio companies, is betting on quality software as a competitive edge for manufacturers. The move reflects growing investor appetite for industrial software layering AI onto established platforms.
