The details: Arranged by SMBC NikkoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the deal carries a 2.2-year non-call period and a 5.2-year reinvestment period, and was structured to comply with European risk retention rules. It priced at a weighted-average cost of debt of S+157, with a triple-A tranche spread of S+123.

Where the equity came from: Equity was fully funded by the Canyon CLO Equity Fund IV L.P.Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the firm's fourth CLO equity fund, which closed in March 2026 with more than $400 million in commitments. The transaction lifts Canyon's global CLO platform to $13 billion in assets under management.

Why now? Canyon pointed to favourable market conditions. "The attractive pricing of this transaction in today's market is a strong signal of the recognition our platform has earned and the confidence investors have in leading CLO managers like Canyon," said Erik Miller, partner and co-head of the CLO business.

What's the endgame? The firm has been active on existing deals too. In 2026, Canyon has refinanced or reset seven deals totalling roughly $2.2 billion in debt capital, cutting their weighted-average cost of debt by an average of 55 basis points.

Founded in 1990, the $30 billion alternative investment manager launched its first CLO strategy in 2001. It has since issued and managed 37 CLOs and CDOs globally.

The signal: Tightening spreads and repeat issuance point to steady investor appetite for established CLO managers. Canyon co-head Martin Downen framed the approach simply: the focus is on "building resilient portfolios and executing transactions that create long-term value for our investors."
