Try Dealroom → in the Middle East, a Category I Alternative Investment Fund based in India's GIFT City. The US dollar-denominated fund will invest $20 million into around 40 startups in the coming months.
What's the endgame? The fund aims to give global investors regulated access to early-stage opportunities in India and abroad, strengthening investment flows between India, the Middle East, and other markets. It operates under the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) framework.
How it's structured: Unlike traditional funds, it carries no management fee or carried interest. Investors get end-to-end online onboarding and can participate remotely, without a physical presence in GIFT City.
Overseas investors — including NRIs, PIOs, OCIs, and foreign nationals — may participate without an Indian tax identification number or the requirement to file a tax return, subject to applicable regulations. The structure also enables repatriation of eligible capital and returns.
Who's joining? BeyondSeed appointed Arif Mubarak Al Shamsi as chairman of its Middle East Advisory Board. He will provide strategic oversight and governance guidance, working with executive leadership on regional partnerships and the firm's expansion across the Middle East and wider GCC.
Why now? As India's international financial services hub, GIFT City connects the country's innovation economy with global capital. "The Middle East has emerged as an important centre for innovation, entrepreneurship and global capital," said Radhika Jain, chief executive officer of BeyondSeed Middle East.
The signal: The launch reflects deepening capital ties between India and the Gulf, with GIFT City positioning itself as the regulated bridge for cross-border early-stage investment.
