Quix Labs founder and chief executive officer Zach Starr says his team had been engaged with i2n for nearly five years before presenting to the new group.
How it works: Members invest as a group through special purpose entities in early-stage, tech-focused companies, backing checks of between $50,000 and $500,000. Beyond capital, members offer coaching, advice, and connections.
What's the endgame? i2n Angels targets early-stage innovators across sectors including software, semiconductors, health tech, medical devices, biotech, and green tech. "Our focus at i2n Angels to support the regional innovation ecosystem by investing in early-stage, tech-focused startups is exemplified in this, our first investment with Quix Labs," said chair Dan Ostien.
The signal: The deal shows regional angel networks stepping in to fill early-stage funding gaps and keep talent local. As Pennsylvania's newest angel group, i2n Angels aims to retain and grow businesses across southeastern Pennsylvania while giving accredited investors a channel into homegrown startups.
