Verix backs sovereign AI firm Syntasa in its first-ever platform deal
What's the deal? Verix Equity Partners has made a strategic growth-equity investment in SyntasaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a sovereign agentic AI and data platform used across commercial and government enterprises. The deal, announced in August 2026, is the lower-middle-market firm's inaugural platform investment. Founder Jay Marwaha stays on as chief executive officer and retains significant ownership.
What does Syntasa do? The company builds an open, model-agnostic platform that brings AI to sensitive data rather than moving data to the models. It deploys sovereign and open-source AI across public cloud, private infrastructure, air-gapped environments, and the edge.
Why now? Verix frames the timing around governments becoming "AI-first" and enterprises facing concerns over data sovereignty, vendor lock-in, and AI governance. "The national security community is moving at unprecedented speed to field AI," said managing partner Sean Battle.
What's the endgame? Verix says it developed a thesis around the market and pursued Syntasa proactively, betting its platform can become "foundational infrastructure" for how agencies and enterprises operationalize AI. The firm targets founder-owned businesses across the national security and technology ecosystems.
