Brookfield raises $77B in Q2 as AI and insurance strategies grow

What's the deal? Brookfield Asset ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised $77 billion across its funds in the second quarter of 2026, a record haul, according to a report in the Thursday edition of The Globe and MailDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The company disclosed the figure alongside financial results through June 30, with all figures in US dollars.

Where did it come from? A majority came from a $40 billion mandate to invest on behalf of British insurer Just Group, which Brookfield acquired in April for $3.2 billion. Expanding artificial intelligence and insurance strategies supplemented fundraising for the firm's flagship funds.

Why now? Brookfield's AI infrastructure strategy, launched in 2025, raised $5 billion in the second quarter. It has become the asset manager's "largest and fastest-growing theme," Brookfield said alongside the results.

What could go wrong? Brookfield's AI strategy leadership said it is "reasonable" to question whether too much AI infrastructure is being built. The firm says it is being selective, avoiding speculative investments and focusing on deals backed by hard assets and long-term contracts.

The signal: Brookfield is leaning on insurance mandates and AI infrastructure to drive fundraising beyond its traditional flagship funds — a bet that both themes can keep pulling in record capital.
