Try Dealroom →, a Bengaluru-based AI-powered fashion discovery platform, including its AI Styling Engine and commerce app. The deal, confirmed on August 5, 2026, folds Furrl's technology and IP into Reliance Retail. What does Furrl do? Founded in 2022 by Esha Tiwary, Furrl turns fashion catalogues into fully styled outfit recommendations based on individual shopper preferences. Over four years, it scaled to more than 50,000 products across 200+ fashion and lifestyle brands, building capability in catalogue intelligence and outfit-level recommendation.
What's the endgame? The acquisition is part of Reliance Retail's push to embed AI across its consumer businesses and deliver more personalised shopping. Furrl's technology is expected to strengthen AI-driven discovery and personalisation across Reliance Retail's digital and omni-channel platforms.
Why now? Furrl set out to fix fashion discovery amid rapidly changing consumer tastes, starting with a catalogue of D2C brands before building its styling engine. "We built Furrl with one conviction: that fashion discovery is broken and AI can fundamentally change that," said Tiwary.
The signal: The deal shows large retailers buying startup AI capability rather than building it in-house, using acquisitions to move from browsing to guided, personalised discovery at scale. For Furrl, joining India's largest retailer offers reach its standalone app could not — as Tiwary put it, the deal lets its technology "reach millions of customers with Reliance Retail's scale."
