SIDBI backs Cedar Hill Capital'US$19.1M debut fintech fund

The commitment comes via the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0, which SIDBI manages as the apex development finance institution for India's micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector. SIDBI did not disclose the size of its commitment.

Why it matters. Cedar Hill Capital focuses on pre-Series A investments in startups building AI-first enterprise technology for the financial services sector, spanning payments, lending, fraud detection, regtech and insuretech. The firm typically comes in as the first institutional investor in pre-Series A and Series A rounds. "Enterprise fintech at the pre-Series A stage is under-served precisely because it is difficult to underwrite - the customers are regulated institutions, the sales cycles are long, and the diligence requires genuine sector depth," said managing partner Sahil Anand. "SIDBI's commitment is a strong endorsement of our focus and platform."
Anand launched Cedar Hill in 2024 through a collaboration between management consulting firm Cedar Consulting and fintech market intelligence platform IBS Intelligence. The maiden fund has made three investments so far, including SIGN3Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI-native fraud intelligence and risk management platform. Anand has said Cedar Hill is also considering a second fund focused on growth equity and Series A/B stages.
