Peru's Grupo Silvestre buys Uruguay's Tampa S.A. to widen its Latin American reach

What does each side do? Grupo Silvestre is the parent of a group of businesses including Silvestre Perú, Neoagrum, Inatec, Pepas Tropicales del Perú, and Colombia's Biocontrol. It works across two segments — agrochemicals and biologicals — and operates in Colombia, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, the US, and other countries.
Tampa, founded in 1964, imports, formulates, and exports agrochemicals. It started as a small laboratory making cleaning products for dairy farms and now offers more than 50 products.
What's the endgame? Tampa's portfolio spans adjuvants, seed treatments, fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides for crops including soybeans, corn, wheat, rice, and forestry. The acquisition extends Grupo Silvestre's footprint into Uruguay while adding Tampa's subsidiaries in Bolivia and Paraguay.
Why now? Tampa has spent years building an export business, and a significant share of its revenue now comes from international markets. That regional reach makes it a fit for a buyer already spread across the continent.
