FCMB unveils ₦20B fund to finance Nigeria's private healthcare sector

The bank unveiled it at the FCMB Healthcare Summit 2026, presenting a ceremonial cheque to the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) on behalf of the country's private health sector.

What's the endgame? The fund targets small and medium-sized providers — clinics, pharmacies, diagnostic centres, maternity homes, and Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs). HFN said these enterprises form the backbone of healthcare delivery across Nigeria.

Who's involved? Iziaq Kunle Salako, minister of state for health and social welfare, made the presentation alongside FCMB executives. In his keynote, he stressed the government's commitment to collaborating with the private sector on Universal Health Coverage.

Why now? HFN president Njide Ndili described access to capital as "without question, the single greatest constraint" holding back the private healthcare sector, particularly for smaller providers. She called financing one of the most critical enablers of sustainable growth.
