Planimetrics wins CHF 40,000 grant to build surgical decision tool

The grant funds three steps to validate the US strategy: a meeting with the Food and Drug Administration to confirm the regulatory pathway, reimbursement verification with experts and insurers, and structured feedback from more than 20 US surgeons.
What's the signal? Early feedback reshaped the company's direction. "We expected questions about accuracy, but surgeons instead focused on something else: having objective evidence to justify why they recommend surgery," said chief executive officer Quentin Praz. That pushed the team, which also includes chief science officer Mathieu Assal and chief technology officer Spyridon Schoinas, from building a measurement device toward a decision-support tool — a bet that surgeons want to document and defend their clinical choices, not just measure them.
