MoMo launches IC Liquidity Fund in Ghana as active users hit 19.3M

What's the deal? MobileMoney Fintech LTD (MMFL) has partnered with IC Asset ManagersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → to launch the IC Liquidity Fund on Ghana's MoMo App. The move lets customers access a regulated investment fund directly from their mobile phones.

Why now? MMFL says the launch builds on a partnership that began during MTN GhanaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s 2018 initial public offering, when the two enabled customers to buy MTN shares through MoMo. It positions the app to move beyond payments into savings and investment.

What's the endgame? The company wants the same phone people use to transact to also help them save and invest. It has simplified onboarding using existing MoMo customer data while maintaining compliance and security, and says it will support users with financial education.

By the numbers: Active mobile money users rose 12.3% to 19.3 million in 2025, up from 17.2 million in 2024. Transaction volumes grew 18.4% to 8.4 billion, while transaction values surged 53.8% from GH¢2.7 trillion to GH¢4.1 trillion.

The IC Liquidity Fund follows earlier MoMo product launches, including Flexi Pensions-Peoples Pensions Trust, Coronation SME Insurance, and Misika by Adehyeman Savings & Loans.

The signal: Bank of Ghana data shows mobile money now underpins retail financial transactions, from utility bills to remittances. Layering regulated investment products onto that base points to fintechs turning payment rails into full-service financial platforms.
