La Caisse, GO.FARM commit $230.7M to Australian permanent crops platform

What's the deal? La Caisse and Australian asset manager GO.FARMDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → have launched a platform to invest in irrigated permanent crops across Australia, backed by an initial combined equity commitment of $230.7 million (AUD 330 million).

How it's structured: La Caisse will invest $209.7 million (AUD 300 million) through the platform, which GO.FARM will manage; GO.FARM adds $21 million (AUD 30 million) of its own capital. La Caisse will also take a minority equity stake directly in GO.FARM, a move the companies describe as reinforcing "long-term alignment beyond the platform itself."

What's the endgame? The platform will build a diversified portfolio of permanent horticultural crops, drawing on GO.FARM's approach of converting underutilized land and water assets into investment-grade operations.

Who's GO.FARM? Founded in 2013 by Liam Lenaghan, it manages about $1.1 billion (AUD 1.6 billion) in assets, focused on large-scale permanent horticulture, water efficiency, and climate-smart farming.

Why now? "As global institutions seek exposure to agriculture, access to investment-grade assets remains constrained," said Lenaghan, GO.FARM's founder and managing director. He called the mandate a reflection of "the growing maturity of Australian agriculture as an institutional asset class."

The signal: The platform extends La Caisse's existing footprint in sustainable land management in Australia, adding permanent crops to a strategy increasingly built around agricultural infrastructure with long investment horizons — a sector its executive Emmanuel Jaclot said is "becoming increasingly important to global food production."
