XGIMI's Elfin Flip 4K clears ₩500M on Wadiz within a day of launch
What's the deal? Chinese smart-projector brand XGIMI raised more than ₩500 million on Korean crowdfunding platform Wadiz within a day of opening funding for its Elfin Flip 4K, its first product to launch in Korea. About 24,000 people signed up for pre-launch alerts, and over 2,000 backed the campaign on day one.
What's the endgame? XGIMI, founded in Chengdu in 2013, operates in more than 100 countries and runs over 6,000 retail stores. Its flagship Elfin series has passed three million units in cumulative global sales.
What changes for customers? The Elfin Flip 4K offers 4K UHD resolution, a Nichia triple RGB laser light source, and 1,600 ISO lumens brightness. It also ships with a stand that rotates 150 degrees, Google TV, and Harman Kardon speakers.
Backers get up to 30% off the regular price plus extras such as a 70-inch portable screen, with inquiries and after-sales service handled through official domestic channels. The campaign runs on Wadiz until September 4.
Why now? Wadiz framed the launch as proof that a first-time entrant can win trust in a new market. It credited the strong start to the product's 4K laser specs, an official domestic after-sales system, and direct answers to buyer questions in the project community.
The signal: Crowdfunding platforms are increasingly serving as testbeds for overseas brands entering Korea, letting them gauge demand and reach early customers before an official launch. Wadiz says it plans to expand its role as a domestic launch platform for global brands.
