CurieDx lands $200K TEDCO grant for AI throat-screening app
What's the deal? CurieDxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Baltimore health-tech startup, has received a $200,000 grant from TEDCODealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the Maryland Technology Development Corporation. The funding came through TEDCO's Social Impact Funds, which back economically underserved founders and communities.
What's the endgame? CurieDx is building an AI-powered mobile app that lets users upload images of their throat for screening. It aims to make diagnostics simpler and more precise for both patients and clinicians.
Why now? This is not CurieDx's first tie to TEDCO. It joined the organization's SBIR/STTR Proposal Lab in 2023, later used programs including the Network Advisors Program and the Maryland Innovation Initiative, and received a Social Impact Funds investment in 2025.
"This investment from TEDCO will help us continue towards a diagnostics tool that allows for simpler, more precise diagnostics," said chief executive officer Therese Canares.
Jean-Luc Park, deputy chief investment officer and senior director of TEDCO's Social Impact Funds, said the fund's "technology-agnostic structure" lets it support technology and life sciences companies across Maryland, "including entities enabling medical solutions, like CurieDx."
The signal: The round sits in the lower band for deal size, modest capital typical of early-stage grant funding rather than a growth raise. For CurieDx, the value is less the cash than continued access to TEDCO's pipeline of state-backed programs and follow-on support.
