Mag2 dual-lists on Fukuoka's Q-Board to push into Kyushu

What's the deal? Tokyo-based Mag2Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → dual-listed on the Fukuoka Stock Exchange's Q-Board on July 21, 2026. The content platform operator, led by chief executive officer Akira Kumashige, will use a new Fukuoka office as the base for expanding across Kyushu and neighbouring regions.

What does it do? Founded more than 25 years ago, Mag2 runs an email newsletter platform launched in 1997 that it calls Japan's first and one of its largest. Anyone can publish free newsletters across genres, from business to personal hobbies, connecting creators directly with readers.

What's the endgame? From the Fukuoka office, Mag2 plans to recruit local creators, experts, and companies, and support cross-media output spanning newsletters, web media, video, audio, and events. The aim is to expand creators' revenue opportunities and carry regional content nationwide and overseas.

Why now? The company argues generative AI has lowered the barrier to producing content, making the question of "who to reach and how" a sharper competitive edge. It frames newsletters — where readers choose what to receive and publishers stay accountable — as more valuable in an information-saturated era.

Why Fukuoka? The listing is not just about adding a market, Mag2 said. It wants to raise recognition and credibility in Kyushu and build networks with local firms, governments, creators, and investors. "We didn't come to sell; we came to search," Kumashige said, adding that Fukuoka is where he studied and that he has now returned.

The signal: Mag2's move reflects a bet that regional Japanese knowledge and creators remain underexposed nationally — and that direct, opt-in distribution can beat algorithm-driven feeds as AI floods the market with content.
