Indielux hits €1M crowdfunding target in a month for its solar overload protection
What's the deal? Berlin energy startup IndieluxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised €1 million in a seed round on crowdinvesting platform FunderNation, breaking the milestone just one month after opening the round. The company makes ready2plugin, a patented line overload protection system for plug-in power feed-in.
What does it do? The technology protects home wiring from overheating and lets homeowners plug in photovoltaic systems that can cover up to 80% of an average single-family home's power needs. Devices with the built-in protection have been on the market since March 2023, supporting socket feed-in of up to 2,300W.
Who's backing it? Maxxihandel GmbH, Indielux's first licensee and maker of the Maxxicharge system, signed a term sheet for €500,000, joining as a second strategic investor. Gerold Schulze, managing director of p&e power&energy GmbH, put in €150,000 earlier, and more than 350,000 came from over 350 crowd investors — pushing the round past its original €800,000 target.
Why now? The system addresses a central hurdle in installing balcony power plants and home storage. Maxxihandel integrated ready2plugin into its Maxxicharge V2 in under three months.
What's the money for? Amid continued demand, Indielux is now raising its target to €1.4 million. The extra capital goes mainly to marketing and sales, further development of the ready2plugin power monitor and cloud API, and defending its patents.
"Our goal is to make ready2plugin the ABS for socket feed-in. We're now taking that path faster," said Marcus Vietzke, managing director of Indielux.
The signal: Alexander von Preysing, head of investment management at FunderNation, called the round one of the fastest in the platform's history: "No one has cracked the €1M mark this quickly before." For a hardware startup in Germany's home-solar market, the speed of the re-raise points to strong demand as households look to cut costs with plug-in solar.
