By the numbers: CSIT-supported companies used 548 grants to raise $524.5 million in additional capital — more than 20 times the amount awarded through CSIT programs.
Among 226 reporting companies, CSIT-funded startups generated $99.4 million in total revenue. They also paid taxes exceeding the total amount of funding awarded.
What's the endgame? CSIT backs entrepreneurs in clean energy, life sciences, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and other high-growth sectors. The assessment, conducted by the New Jersey Institute of Technology, reviewed startups that tapped 21 CSIT funding rounds to build new technologies, advance commercialisation, and grow.
The signal: The findings position public grants as an early catalyst for private capital, with each dollar awarded drawing in more than 20 in follow-on funding and returning taxes above the initial outlay.
