What's the deal? Eastspring InvestmentsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the Asia-headquartered asset manager owned by PrudentialDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → plc, yesterday launched the Eastspring Investments – Asia Technology Innovation fund in Singapore and Hong Kong. The fund will progressively become available in other select markets across the region.
What's the endgame? Eastspring is betting on Asian companies that supply the chips, hardware, and infrastructure behind global technology firms. The actively managed strategy spans established leaders and emerging innovators tied to the next wave of technology and AI.
Who's running it? Lead portfolio manager Eric Lin, head of the Asia tech team, manages the fund alongside co-portfolio managers Louis Cheng and Jack Hsu, plus John Tsai, head of growth equities.
Why now? "Technology continues to reshape industries, business models and everyday life at an unprecedented pace," said Vis Nayar, chief investment officer at Eastspring. He argued that the "real engine" behind household-name tech companies lies "deeper — in the chips, hardware and infrastructure that make innovation possible," much of it built in Asia.
What could go wrong? Nayar flagged the need for discipline. "We will still have to be selective and active management is critical in identifying the most compelling opportunities while navigating the sector's inherent volatility," he said.
The signal: Eastspring is framing Asia as central to global technology, from semiconductors to supply chains. "This strategy taps into Asia's understated yet critical role in global technology supply chains," said Salman Haider, chief distribution officer, pointing to the region's manufacturing ecosystems, digital adoption, and government-led initiatives.
