Try Dealroom → (GCA) and JYP Partners have formed the JYPP-GCA Level Up Investment Association, or Level Up Fund 5, to back content startups in Gyeonggi Province, GCA announced on July 16. GCA is the limited partner, while JYP Partners serves as sole general partner running the fund.
Who's involved? JYP Partners is an investment arm focused on finding and backing K-content and innovation-tech startups. The launch event drew JYP Partners chief executive officer Shin Min-kyung, director Park Ji-eun, and GCA president Tak Yong-seok.
Why now? The fund launch ran alongside the 2026 Gyeonggi Level Up Focus Round, where GCA's fund managers reviewed local companies directly. The event featured investment firms tied to major entertainment groups, including SM Culture PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which runs existing Level Up funds.
What's the endgame? Fifteen vetted content startups pitched at the Focus Round. They were selected through GCA's G-VIP investment network and a "reverse recommendation" method in which staff directly source strong companies.
GCA has built a network of 106 private investment firms to support follow-on funding. It also plans to deploy the Level Up Fund, worth 13.5 billion won for early-stage companies, and the Opportunity Fund, worth 205.2 billion won for growth-stage companies.
The signal: "We expect the province's content investment ecosystem to expand further," Tak said, adding that he hopes the fund becomes "a priming pump that supplies real capital when early content startups need it most." The tie-up reflects a public-private model pairing government money with entertainment-backed investors to fund Korea's content sector.
