SBI tokenises first Japanese equity fund on Solana with DigiFT

What's the deal? SBI Global Asset Management has launched the first tokenised Japanese equity fund on the Solana blockchain, in partnership with regulated real-world asset platform DigiFTDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Named the JX token, the product gives accredited and institutional investors access to a high-dividend Japanese equities strategy managed by SBI Asset Management.

Why Solana? The partners chose Solana for its low transaction fees, high throughput, and near-instant settlement — features they position as suited to institutional financial products. Settlement runs in USDC.

Why now? Japan, long seen as cautious on blockchain, is speeding up its adoption of the technology. Its mature market and dividend-paying companies make it an attractive target for tokenised products aimed at global investors.

What's the endgame? SBI is framing the fund as a bridge between mature Asian markets and decentralised finance. Tokenisation promises fractional ownership, improved liquidity, and greater transparency in how underlying assets are managed.

"Our mission has always been to bring institutional-quality assets onto the blockchain through reliable infrastructure," said Henry Zhang, founder of DigiFT.

The signal: The launch is part of a wider push to move real-world assets (RWA) onto blockchain, with established financial institutions testing tokenisation within strict regulatory frameworks. It marks a step toward traditional finance meeting crypto rails at an institutional level.
