Citation Capital closes largest-ever female-founded buyout fund at $1.2B
What's the deal? Citation CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Dallas-based private equity firm, has closed its inaugural fund, Citation Fund I, at $1.2 billion in total investable capital. The fund was oversubscribed, hitting its $1.1 billion hard cap in third-party commitments, with the rest coming from the GP and affiliates. Including co-invest capital, Citation now manages $2.1 billion.
Who backed it? The fund drew commitments from pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, funds of funds, endowments, foundations, and family offices.
What's the endgame? Citation targets mid-cap control buyouts in the services, industrials, and consumer sectors across North America, focusing on founder- and family-led businesses. Since launching, it has made four investments: Cibo VitaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Aptive EnvironmentalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Gallo Mechanical, and World Travel Holdings.
Why now? Founded in 2023 by Tiffany K. Hagge and Lydie B. Hudson, alongside partners Spencer Almy and Santiago Castelazo, the firm reached its final close in under three years. "This Fund brings together a world-class set of limited partners," said Hagge, founder and managing partner.
The signal: According to third-party sources, Citation Fund I ranks among the ten largest inaugural buyout funds of the past decade and is the largest female-founded buyout fund ever launched — a notable data point in an industry where women-led firms remain rare.
