Wrap Technologies buys US, NATO rights to Israeli drone-detection tech

The company announced the strategic transaction on July 10, 2026.
What's the endgame? WRAP has positioned the technology as the foundation of WrapShield, its emerging counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) and autonomous public-safety platform. Counter-drone operations are the initial deployment domain, with the company citing expansion potential beyond it.
Why now? Consumer-grade drones costing under $500 have altered the risk landscape for public safety agencies. Narcotics organisations deploy them against border agents, jails face near-daily drone-dropped contraband, and Langley Air Force Base grounded flight operations after persistent drone incursions no existing nonlethal protocol could address.
Frenel's technology detects threats that have stopped transmitting — a gap the company says its rivals cannot address. It also orchestrates responses and acts with what WRAP calls "proportionate, mission-appropriate action."
The bigger picture: Wrap Technologies builds non-lethal public safety tools, including the BolaWrap 150 restraint device, the Wrap Reality training platform, and the WrapVision body-worn camera system. Its C-UAS line already includes the PAN-DA system and the 1KC Kinetic Anti-Drone Cassette.
The signal: The deal reflects a widening market for counter-drone technology as cheap consumer devices outpace the legacy response infrastructure agencies have relied on for decades. Wrap is betting that detecting silent drones — not just faster versions of old equipment — is where public safety and defence spending is headed.
