Why now? Demand for the firm's services has climbed in recent years. "The demand for Switalskis services has increased significantly over the last few years and it's fantastic to see the business capitalise on this," said Mike Edwards, relationship director at HSBC UK.
What's the endgame? Switalskis is targeting a 20% rise in turnover over the next year, driven by mergers and acquisitions, workforce growth, and a widening client base. It has appointed ten new directors in the past 12 months.
The expansion: The firm recently opened a new office in Grimsby, part of a push to strengthen its presence across UK legal markets. Founded in Wakefield in 1993, Switalskis now employs more than 380 legal specialists across 12 locations.
"This funding has allowed us to accelerate our growth strategy and fulfil the vision that we've had for the business since we started the company," said chief executive John Durkan.
The signal: Debt-backed consolidation is reshaping UK legal services, with established firms using external capital to acquire smaller practices and scale nationally rather than relying on organic growth alone.
