Poland's Future Tech accelerates: BGK to deploy 500M złoty into VC funds in 2026
What's the deal? Poland's state development bank Bank Gospodarstwa KrajowegoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (BGK) plans to deploy around 500 million złoty into technology funds in 2026 through its Future Tech Poland programme, according to PAP. That sum represents nearly half the programme's total allocation.
Why now? More than six months after the launch of the parent Innovate Poland programme, Future Tech Poland has already backed three funds: growth fund Cogito Fund II, plus venture capital funds Expeditions Fund II and Balnord Fund I. All three have started scouting the market and making their own investments.
What's next? BGK plans another commitment in July 2026 and expects to close two or three more by year-end, bringing the total to five or six funds. Individual commitments typically cap at 100 million złoty per fund, with the European Investment Fund regularly co-investing to amplify the capital reaching the market.
How does it work? The bank is currently vetting a shortlist of about 15 fund managers, from which final recipients will be chosen. The programme is designed as a long-term effort to build funds over multiple years, and BGK intends to continue it in future, possibly on a smaller budget.
What's the endgame? Future Tech Poland is a joint effort between BGK, which is committing 1 billion złoty, and the European Investment Fund, which adds 500 million złoty. The programme targets a diagnosed funding gap in Poland's venture capital segment — the institutions that supply most of the capital to companies developing new technology.
The bigger picture: Future Tech Poland is one part of the broader Innovate Poland strategy. A second pillar, Innovate PL FoF, is a fund-of-funds managed by PFR Ventures that extends support beyond venture capital into private equity and private debt.
The signal: Poland is channelling state and EU capital to deepen its domestic fund ecosystem and build specialist management expertise inside institutions such as PFR Ventures. The pace of commitments in 2026 signals an intent to move from launch to sustained, market-shaping deployment.
