The Stack: a new AI hub for founders launches in Amsterdam
The Stack, a new AI hub in Amsterdam built by founders for founders, was officially introduced in June 2026. It aims to help Europe build and scale globally competitive AI companies from within Europe itself, spanning the full stack — from hardware and compute to models and applications.
The hub opens in September 2026 with 4,500m² at Jacob Bontiusplaats in the Oostenburg district of Amsterdam, growing to 12,000m² capacity and aiming to house more than 200 founders by 2029. Founders at The Stack get dedicated workspace, development programmes, peer-to-peer support, access to launching customers and more than 100 events a year. Among the first confirmed tenants are Ubicloud, Dawnguard and Iconic Works.
The Stack was co-founded by Lennard Zwart (Ascending AI), Maarten Stolk (Deeploy, Enjins) and Philip Gast (AdamI, The AI Foundry), together with Techleap, with Esther Bisschop — whose previous company Th3rd was acquired by Snap Inc. in 2022 — as founding director. It is backed by more than €10 million in private funding, with IMC as a founding partner and ABN AMRO, ClickHouse, Deloitte, Google, Miro and Prosus as corporate partners. The initiative is supported by the city of Amsterdam.
