JMG Group snaps up three Midlands brokers to deepen regional footprint
What's the deal? JMG Group, a UK insurance brokerage consolidator, has acquired three independent brokers — Jukes Insurance Brokers, RP Lovatt, and Nene Valley Insurance Practice — as it pushes deeper into the Midlands and surrounding regions.
Jukes Insurance Brokers, founded in 1963 and based in Bromsgrove, employs 17 people across two locations. RP Lovatt, established in 1960, extends JMG's reach into Oxfordshire. Northampton-based Nene Valley Insurance Practice, a fleet and trades specialist founded in 2018, has been folded into JMG Group business BQI Insurance.
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Why now? The trio of acquisitions builds on momentum JMG Group has been gathering in the Midlands since it bought Boston Insurance Brokers in September 2025. The push is led by regional managing director Alan Percival, who joined at the start of 2026 with over 35 years of broking experience and is based in Birmingham.
"The Midlands continues to be a key focus for us," Percival said, noting the "depth of opportunity in the region."
What could go wrong? Rapid roll-up strategies in insurance broking carry integration risk. Merging three family-run firms — each with distinct cultures and long-standing client relationships — into a larger group demands careful handling to retain staff and customers. Nene Valley is just seven years old; the other two have roots stretching back over 60 years.
The signal: The UK insurance broking market continues to consolidate at pace, with acquirers hunting for well-established independents outside London. JMG Group's regional strategy — targeting quality businesses in underserved areas — mirrors a broader trend of consolidators moving beyond the capital to find growth.
For the founders selling, the logic is familiar: access to bigger markets, broader expertise, and a succession path. As Jukes' James Godsall put it, it is "an exciting chance to continue developing our business as part of something bigger."
