Pro Global acquires Australian firm GSI to push into Asia Pacific
What's the deal? Pro Global, the UK-based insurance services group, has acquired GSI Professional Services, a specialist Australian audit and advisory practice. The deal gives Pro Global an immediate foothold in Australia and a launchpad for broader expansion across the Asia Pacific region.
David Mills, who owned and led GSI prior to the acquisition, will stay on as head of region for Australia, overseeing Pro Global's operations and client offering across the territory.
Why now? Australia's insurance market is seeing rising demand for specialist expertise, operational scalability, and technology-enabled delivery as carriers, MGAs, and brokers face tightening regulatory expectations and growing market complexity. Pro Global said it sees significant opportunity to support evolving needs across the region.
"The market presents strong demand for specialist expertise, particularly across audit, operational support and delegated authority oversight," Mills said.
What could go wrong? Expanding into a new geography always carries integration risk. Pro Global must prove it can blend local knowledge with its international capabilities without losing the client relationships GSI built. Regulatory differences between Australia and Pro Global's existing markets could also add complexity.
The signal: The acquisition reflects a broader trend in insurance services: as markets become more interconnected, clients want partners that can deliver consistent specialist expertise across multiple jurisdictions. Pro Global's move fits a pattern of UK and European insurance services firms building regional platforms in Asia Pacific to capture growth that mature Western markets can't offer alone.
Steve Lewis, Pro Global's chief executive, framed the deal as both a capability play and a long-term bet. "Alongside strengthening our Audit & Advisory presence, we see significant opportunity to support the evolving needs of MGAs and Insurance Services clients across the region," he said.
