Five V pours $55m into hospitality tech start-up Ordermentum

What's the deal? Australian private equity firm Five V has poured $55 million into Ordermentum, a hospitality e-commerce startup whose platform helps 50,000 pubs, restaurants, and cafes across Australia order supplies. The deal, which included a secondary sale allowing early investors to offload some holdings, valued Ordermentum at more than $150 million.

Investment bank Barrenjoey ran the global process that led to the transaction.

Why now? Ordermentum has built a substantial footprint across Australian hospitality, reaching 50,000 venues. That kind of scale makes it attractive to a growth-oriented investor like Five V, which focuses on mid-market Australian businesses ready for their next phase.

What could go wrong? Hospitality is a notoriously tight-margin industry, and any downturn in consumer spending could squeeze venues — and by extension, the platforms they rely on. Ordermentum also faces competition from larger supply-chain and procurement platforms eyeing the same market.

The signal: The deal reflects growing investor appetite for vertical software platforms that digitise old-school procurement workflows. Hospitality supply chains remain surprisingly manual in many markets, and purpose-built tools like Ordermentum sit at a valuable intersection of payments, logistics, and data. Five V's bet suggests there's still meaningful upside in digitising these unglamorous but essential processes.
