Italy’s tech scene is gaining momentum, and this year a key event is changing its identity to reflect that growth. Vento, one of Italy’s leading early-stage venture funds, aims to position the event as a hub where Europe’s industrial expertise meets global venture capital.
Vento CEO Diyala D’AveniDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → says the change is about more than just a new name. “We want to build something that goes beyond Italy and possibly beyond Europe. It’s about bringing the best founders and the best audience together,” she explains. Despite the Vento branding, other venture capital firms remain welcome, as the event is focused on showcasing talent, not competing for deals.
Italy’s tech ecosystem is showing clear signs of growth. In the first half of 2025, startups raised $768 million, with healthtech securing $126 million, fintech $91 million, and energy tech $78 million. Early-stage companies are now reaching Series A and B rounds, creating a flywheel effect that attracts more investors and encourages entrepreneurship.
While many Italian founders work abroad, they continue to support the domestic ecosystem by opening offices, hiring locally, and mentoring new startups. The government and EU initiatives are also helping to streamline expansion across Europe, though D’Aveni notes more work is needed to simplify regulations.
Italy’s strong manufacturing base, dense industrial clusters and engineering talent provide fertile ground for innovation, particularly in AI and robotics. Wave by Vento hopes to connect this industrial strength with global investors and talent, making Turin a focal point for Europe’s next wave of tech growth.
