Matt Spetzler Brings Pipeline to Independent Music with $200M Backing

Pipeline, a newly launched financing platform focused on the independent music market, has raised more than $200 million to support labels, distributors, publishers and rights holders seeking access to growth capital.

The platform has been developed by Jamen CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the investment firm founded by Matt SpetzlerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a longtime music industry executive and investor. Spetzler previously held senior roles at music company Kobalt, where he was involved in building and scaling its services for independent artists, publishers and rights holders.

He later established Jamen Capital to invest in music-related businesses and catalogue-backed opportunities, with a focus on long-term capital structures rather than outright ownership.

Pipeline emerges from stealth with backing intended to fund advances secured against music rights and royalty streams. Its model is designed to provide non-dilutive financing, allowing clients to unlock capital from existing catalogues without selling ownership or long-term control of their assets.

The platform underwrites advances based on data analysis of historical and projected royalty income, offering financing structures linked to future cash flows rather than traditional balance-sheet lending.

Pipeline said this approach is aimed at addressing persistent funding gaps in the independent music sector, where access to capital has often been limited to a small number of specialised lenders or rights buyers.

With the new capital, Pipeline plans to scale its underwriting capacity, invest in data and analytics infrastructure, and broaden its reach across the independent music ecosystem.
