Cerebras Lands $10B OpenAI Partnership for Compute Capacity
OpenAI has agreed a multiyear deal to buy large-scale computing capacity from Cerebras Systems, a partnership that gives the AI chipmaker a significant new customer and reduces its reliance on a narrow revenue base.
Under the agreement, OpenAI will purchase up to 750 megawatts of compute from Cerebras over three years, with capacity coming online through 2028.
People familiar with the matter have said the deal is worth more than $10 billion, though financial terms were not disclosed. The capacity will be used to support ChatGPT and other OpenAI services as demand for fast, efficient AI inference grows.
The deal marks an important shift for Cerebras. The agreement sits alongside a wave of large infrastructure deals across the AI sector.
