CrowdStrike Makes Two Acquisitions Worth About $1.2B to Expand Security Platform
CrowdStrike has announced two acquisitions totalling nearly $1.2 billion within a week, expanding its cybersecurity platform to cover identity management and browser security.
The company first said it would acquire identity security startup SGNL in a deal valued at $740 million, before following days later with the purchase of browser security firm Seraphic for a reported $420 million.
Together, the transactions mark a deliberate expansion beyond endpoint protection into areas CrowdStrike views as increasingly exposed in enterprise environments
SGNL, founded in 2021, develops “continuous identity” technology that evaluates access in real time across cloud and enterprise systems, covering human users, machines and AI agents. CrowdStrike said the acquisition would strengthen its ability to prevent attackers from exploiting legitimate credentials, building on its earlier move into identity security following the acquisition of Preempt Security in 2020.
Seraphic, an Israel-based company, focuses on securing web browsers, which have become a primary interface for enterprise applications and data. Its software is designed to protect standard browsers from threats such as phishing, malicious extensions and data leakage without requiring organisations to change workflows.
Both technologies are expected to be integrated into CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform, with teams from SGNL and Seraphic joining the company. CrowdStrike has said the focus is on expanding capabilities rather than restructuring, as it continues to invest in automation and AI-driven security tools.
