The facility complements €140 million raised through recent convertible instruments and shareholder loans to support the next phase of Destinus’s expansion. In total, Destinus has now raised close to €400 million, with more than €200 million in the form of equity and the remainder made up of debt and similar instruments.
Founded in the Netherlands, Destinus is an aerospace and defence technology company combining AI-driven engineering, vertical integration and large-scale manufacturing. The company employs around 750 engineers and specialists across Europe and is positioning itself as an industrial supplier of autonomous systems within the European defence ecosystem.
When Destinus emerged in 2021, it attracted attention for an ambitious vision centred on hydrogen-powered hypersonic aircraft capable of Mach 5+ flight, with early demonstrators placing the company among Europe’s most visible bets on ultra-high-speed aviation.
However, over the past two years Destinus has shifted decisively toward nearer-term, dual-use aerospace technologies with clearer commercial and defence demand. Its current portfolio focuses on autonomous and uncrewed platforms aimed at surveillance, mapping, rapid response and defence applications.
This strategic recalibration was reinforced in 2025 with the acquisition of Swiss AI avionics specialist Daedalean, signalling a sharper emphasis on AI-enabled autonomy and deployable systems rather than hypersonic speed alone.
The move reflects Destinus’ broader ambition to industrialise autonomous flight at scale, aligning its technology roadmap with European defence and security priorities.
